A journalist basically collects information on the current events, people, trends and issues. Before you choose journalism as a career option, inquire about the details of the career scope, salary, nature of the job, etc to assure that this is the right field for you.

Here are steps from scratch on how to become a journalist:

• Education: Like every other field, appropriate education for the field is very essential. A degree in journalism, English, or mass communication is the basic requirement to become a journalist. For this degree, make sure you chose a college, which is credited.
• Specialty: Once you complete your graduation, select your specialty according to what you want to get into journalism. There are many types of journalism specialties; newspaper journalism to broadcast journalism. Choose your field wisely, with full detailed inquiry and what you would like to do.
• Internship: The next step to become a journalist is to get an internship. This can turn out to be a very helpful experience for your resume. Look for an internship in the media you are interested in the most, whether it is a newspaper or television studio. Apart from the internship, join other activities which are related to your field.
• Tune and enhance your writing skill according to the job requirement. Journalist has to have good writing skills. You should be able to compile information in an article.
• Work: While you are in your internship, look out for a good job. Increase your network by attending conventions, fairs and clubs
